TEMPORARY STAFFING FIRMS

It turns out that my recent decision to call up some temporary staffing firms for work wasn't such a bad idea. Things are always painfully slow work-wise in the wintertime. I needed to find a way to earn some extra money between gigs to be able to afford the out-of-state trips to Los Angeles and New York where there never seems to be a shortage of interesting assignments. There haven't been too many film projects to choose from lately in Chicago. My last trip to Los Angeles was pretty disastrous. I had worked really hard to make a connection with a casting director and I was really enthusiastic about the film. The role was a perfect fit and it would have been my first major part – (OK – first bit part – but still! ) in a Hollywood production! We made plans to meet at a cafe and she never showed up. At this point I had paid for the flight and all the expenses out of my own pocket. I was thinking of ways I could recoup some of the money I lost without sacrificing the time I need to keep pursuing this. I was running over the list of ideas in my head and freaking out over how I might have to take something permanent. I felt sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Then I remembered temporary work and I've been able to fill in the gaps nicely. At this rate I'll be able to afford another trip next month already!
