MOVING MY COMPANY

Owning my own business was a dream of mine for many years. I worked hard for other companies and now was the time for me to work hard for myself. I decided to give it a try. Hard work paid off and my business grew quickly and became quite successful. I traveled a lot for the business. When it was vacation time, I took my family to some of my favorite places I had visited for the business. Discussions about where we should go on vacations always pointed to North Carolina. It was one of my favorite places and now became a favorite for my whole family. Always a businessman first, I looked into the business opportunities there. I hit it lucky. A customer of ours knew of a company whose owner was retiring and wanted to sell the operation. We decided to move permanently to North Carolina. When discussing this with my loyal employees, many of them said they would be willing to go along with the company to the new location. The problem was one I had never had to deal with before. What exactly is involved in moving a whole business to another state? Where do I begin? What do I do first? What are my obligations to my employees in regard to this move? I heard of a company that used relocation software to get the information that would inform me of my needs to consolidate and integrate every function of the moving process. We are now all settled in, my personal family and my business family.
