BUSINESS SENSE
Once I decided that Tara had more business sense than I had, especially when it came to cutting tools, I tried to convince her to stay on and help me. She couldn't. She had a regular job with one of my suppliers, and had to get back to it. I said that that was okay, but if she needed some extra money I could help her out with that. She said okay, and I didn't hear from her again. For weeks. Then one day I got a call. It was from Tara. By that time, I had hired someone, and didn't need her. Still, I really just wanted to see her. But I was a little too shy to ask her for a date, so I just told her to come in for an interview. She was upset. What did I mean, an interview? I already knew she could do the job, right? So why did I want to interview her? I choked, and said that that was company procedure. She laughed. She said that there was no company and therefore could be no company procedure. I argued that there had been many changes since she had left. So she agreed to come in for an interview. I had to buy a desk so I could sit on the other side and interview her.
